Camp Point Bicentennial Chautauqua Speakers

10 am – William Jennings Bryan, portrayed by our Master of Ceremonies Dr. Tim Jacobs. William Jennings Bryan was the featured speaker at Camp Point’s 1909 and 1921 Chautauqua programs.

11 amLincoln, presented by Timothy Good, the Superintendent of the Lincoln Home in Springfield. He is a noted Abraham Lincoln historian and has written several books about the president. One of his most popular books is about Lincoln’s Assassination and he will talk about that.

12 pmPike Pipers, performance by four women from Pike County who form a recorder ensemble. They travel throughout the are playing for groups and events using several types of recorders to offer a unique and pleasant sound. 

12:30 pmMusic by Giddy Up and Go

1:00 pmLocal Founders – Learn about the four founders, Thomas Bailey, Benjamin Booth, William Farlow, and Peter B. Garrett.

2:00 pm – General Ulysses S. Grant, portrayed by Dr. Curt Fields, native of Tennessee who travels extensively portraying Grant in first person while dressed in elaborate and accurate costumes. He is a lifelong student of the Civil War and has a striking resemblance to Grant. His topic will be “General Grant’s Travels through Illinois at the Beginning of the Civil War.”

3:00 pm – Mountain Dulcimer presented by Mike Anderson, of Jacksonville, IL, one of the most versatile entertainers in the Midwest.

Bicentennial Parade
Thursday, July 3 at 6:00 p.m.
Lineup starts at 5:30 p.m.
Parade begins at Bailey Park.

5K Fun Run/Walk
Come out and Join us for our Annual 4th of July 5k fun run/walk! Strollers and pets are welcome. $20 for each Registration. You can pick up Registration form at Fit365, 106 East State Street, Camp Point, or message Lekha Mayes at 217-617-0048. 

Softball Tournament

Sand Volleyball Tournament
$120/team – Co-ed teams, more girls than guys on the court at all times. Double elimination. 3 matches. 45 minutes game time limit. Pay out for the top 3 teams. Players from each team will ref the game prior to yours. (Subject to change – If interested in leading Volleyball Tournament, contact Molly at 217-440-3380)

Dunk Tank

Registration begins at 12:30pm. Bags fly at 1pm. $20/team. Double elimination. May bring your own bags/board & partner. 

Match = 1 game
Bag on board = 3 points
All rules will be posted the day of the tournament.

Baby Contest
Register early for the baby contest. Check in at 3:45pm in the stage area. The contest begins at 4pm. Age Categories are 0-6 months, 7-12 months, 13-18 months.

Winning Categories will include: Bright Eyes, Cheeky Grin, Captivating Hair, Cute Personality, Best Dressed, & 1 Overall Winner from all age categories named the Firecracker Baby 2025 (looking for everything above & must be from the Central District)! *Anyone can enter, just the Firecracker baby/overall winner will be chosen from those in the Central school district.

Little Miss/Mister Contest
Check-in will begin at 4:30pm at Bailey Park. The contest begins at 5:00pm. Ages: 4-7 year old. The child must live in the Central School District. Child cannot be a past Little Miss or Little Mister winner. Highly encourage the child to be dressed in their best Red, White, and Blue apparel. 

Entry deadline: June 30, no exceptions.
